FOR LEADERS FOCUSED ON DISRUPTING DISCREPANCIES IN OPPORTUNITY

Equity Practitioner Program

About EPP

EPP is a 6-month program that equips teams of educators with the framework, language and confidence to successfully advance structural change efforts for the benefit of all children. EPP grounds participants in history-focused academic scholarship, while coaching them through a Direct Action Project at their district or school using a human-centered problem-solving approach.

How Does EPP Work?

Teams of three to five join the cohort-based, six-month program.

Participants explore the origins and nature of structural and systemic inequities.

Deep learning experiences are coupled with planning and practical application through a direct action project.

Teams strategize with their organizations on executing the Direct Action Project (see video below).

Teams work with their school or district to execute Direct Action Project, advancing equity and increasing internal capacity.

Our Guiding Beliefs for EPP

  1. Structural barriers are created at seats of power and lie at the root of systemic inequity in schools.
  2. There is inertia in the dangerous social and psychological constructs that govern our daily lives; equity is achieved when we challenge institutions responsible for creating the constructs.
  3. America’s founding story is unique; as such our systemic inequities CAN NOT be simplistically compared to the systemic inequities of other nations.
  4. Schools must be redesigned to intentionally and equitably educate ALL kids.
